Emiliya Popova

Project Manager

Emiliya Popova joined the REM team in March 2024. She brings extensive experience in project management and the development of international cooperation projects within a scientific context. Her areas of expertise include science management and the coordination of international research projects and academic networks. In her many years of work experience at the HafenCity University Hamburg, first as a research associate and later as an advisor for internationalisation, she has provided content and institutional support for numerous research and network project applications. She successfully contributed to the development of projects funded by the EU programs, including Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, Interreg Baltic Sea Region, and Interreg North Sea. Additionally, she was responsible for the conception and realization of several Erasmus+ cooperation projects.

As a trained urban planner and urban designer, she has extensive practical experience also in the field of design and construction management, notably with the construction of the new AUDI automotive plant in Mexico from 2012 to 2015. Her professional focus includes therefore urban planning, urban research, architecture, civil engineering, sustainable development, and circular construction. Central to her work is an interdisciplinary approach, which enables her to successfully combine diverse working methods and knowledge perspectives to achieve a common goal.
