REM Consult is your trusted and independent consulting company with 15+ years experience in EU-funded projects and more

REM Consult was founded in 2003 by Markus Lang (Dipl.-Ing. Spatial Planning). As an EU affairs advisor for the administrative region of Lüneburg, Markus had noticed that cities and counties often struggled with applying for and coordinating EU projects and needed support. He took this observation as his starting point for becoming self-employed and started the first two Interreg projects in the North and Baltic Sea Region. At the same time, Markus also became involved in development cooperation projects.
REM Consult grew to its current company size during the 2007-2013 funding period of the European Union. Throughout these years, the company successfully accompanied numerous projects funded by the Interreg cross-border, transnational and interregional programmes. In the current funding period (2014-2020) REM Consult is once again involved in several Interreg projects but also supports applications in other EU-funding programmes, e.g. Horizon 2020 and Urban Innovative Actions as well as direct tenders of the European Commission, such as the Directorate-General for Education and Culture. In addition to this, REM Consult conducts studies and analyses and collects good practices on a variety of topics such as demographic change and integration of refugees.
In 2016, Hauke Siemen, who had been working as project manager for REM Consult since 2008 and been its Managing Director since 2010, became part-owner of REM Consult. The peculiar name of the newly founded company „REM Consult Lang + Partner Stadtplaner und Historiker“ is due to Hauke’s academic background in social sciences (and the requirements of German corporate law for company names) .
REM Consult operates from its offices in Hamburg and Dortmund and has developed an extensive network of cooperation partners across Germany and the EU. We consider intercultural cooperation and communication in English language as a self-evident component of our work in a transnational environment. To ensure that we deliver high-quality services, our team members regularly attend seminars and trainings.
