Interreg Europe

Interreg Europe is the funding programme for interregional cooperation and is applicable to the entire territory of the European Union.

Interreg Europe promotes projects of interregional cooperation in the whole of Europe. What constitutes the programme’s overarching goal is the optimisation of the use of European Structural Funds in certain regions. The programme thus demands the improvement of a “political instrument” in every participating partner region during the five-year life cycle of the project concerned. This is achieved through the partners’ improvement of the instruments in the first three years of the cycle. The participating regions thereby aim specifically at selected projects making use of their regional strategies, funding sources and operational programmes. The following two years are dedicated to the implementation of these instruments.

On behalf of the HafenCity University Hamburg, REM Consult took on the responsibility for coordinating the project RUMORE in the Interreg Europe programme. In the previous programming period, REM Consult successfully developed and supported the project URMA. Approximately 359 million Euros are made available for the Interreg Europe programme in the funding period 2014-2020, covering the following priorities:

  • R&I (Research & Innovation),

  • competition and SMEs (small and middle sized enterprises),

  • low-carbon economy,

  • environment and resource efficiency
