SEMPRE Final Conference
It is hard to believe, but the first projects of the current Interreg funding period 2014-2020 are already reaching the finish line. The SEMPRE project held its final conference under the title “Make Empowerment Happen!” in Riga, Latvia on 27 and 28 November 2018.
The project partners used this opportunity to present their project results to the public, including the “Empowerment Handbook” that was written to inspire social workers to apply the principle of empowerment in their work with marginalised groups. Moreover, 18 so-called micro projects presented themselves at the conference. These micro projects are local, small-scale initiatives that created new social services in a co-creation process that involved both service users and service providers. An example is a tailor cooperative of migrants in Northern Sweden that supplies local grocery stores with reusable fruit bags and provides its participants the chance to receive job training and enter the labour market.
REM Consult has supported the SEMPRE project in the past three years in terms of project and financial management and has also contributed to the final publications.
