VASAB Vision 2040 – 2nd stakeholder workshop on project ideas and implementation

On 15 November 2022, the second German stakeholder workshop focussing on the VASAB Vision 2040 took place at the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency in Hamburg. The event was organized by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) and the Federal Institute for Building, Urban and Spatial Research (BBSR) as part of the German VASAB chairmanship in 2022/23 with the support of REM Consult.

As Germany has assumed the chairmanship of the VASAB Committee on Spatial Planning and Development of the Baltic Sea Region (CSPD/BSR) in the beginning of the year, it has implemented various activities such as this event. The aim of the workshop was to support German actors in developing or promoting project ideas that fit the fields of action of the VASAB Vision 2040 and can contribute to their implementation. REM Consult, in coordination with the German VASAB Chair, prepared, moderated and documented the workshop.

BBSR has set up a model project for regional development (Modellvorhaben der Raumordnung, MORO) that accompanies the updating process and involves stakeholders who can contribute to the exemplary implementation of the LTP. As part of this project, the team from REM Consult supports the German Chairmanship in its projects. The process of updating the VASAB Vision will be concluded in June 2023 with a ministerial conference. You can find more information here.
