Federal Demography Portal – Collection of Good Practice Profiles

The German Demography Portal offers an extensive database with good practices exemplifying how local projects tackle the consequences of demographic change in Germany, Europe and beyond.

The German Federal Government’s strategy for demographic challenges outlines the country’s present and future demographic policy. As a part of this strategy, a collection of good practices shall inspire and enable actors from different areas of demography policy (such as stakeholders working in the provision of public services, labour market, quality of life or digitalisation) to learn from these examples and adapt them to the respective local contexts. The Demography Portal of the Federal Government and the Federal States serves an important function as a central hub for the exchange of knowledge and information within the framework of the larger Demography Strategy of the Federal Government.

In the run-up to a Demography Summit planned by the Federal Government in spring 2017, the range of good practice examples will be expanded and enriched by additional profiles on German and international projects. In this context, the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB), which is responsible for the editorial office of the Demography Portal, has commissioned REM Consult to develop profiles of good practice and to develop and prepare proposals of international good examples.
