Funding Guide for Wadden Sea World Heritage
The Wadden Sea Funding Guide provides a comprehensive overview of national and international third-party funding opportunities 2021-2027 for projects related to the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea.
The Wadden Sea Funding Guide (German version: Förderhandbuch für das Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer) represents a new systematic analysis of national and international funding opportunities related to the UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage. It is intended to support the diversity of organizations and actors involved in the trilateral Wadden Sea cooperation in the search for suitable funding. The analysis was created as part of the Interreg North Sea project PROWAD Link PROWAD Link on behalf of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park Administration, with the support of the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat, and was carried out by REM Consult in cooperation with Dr. Cormac Walsh
The Funding Guide covers five themes that are closely related to the trilateral partnership: nature conservation, sustainable regional development, international cooperation, education and interpretation, and governance and brand management of the World Heritage Site. Based on these topics and in accordance with the funding-specific requirements of the partnership, potential European and national funding programs and funding were analyzed and summarized in fact sheets of the respective funding opportunities as well as a general matching with the main topics of the partnership. The overview contains information on relevant Interreg programmes, Horizon Europe, Life, Erasmus+, EMFAF and EAFRD, as well as numerous national and sub-national funding opportunities in Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany.
In addition, funding scenarios were developed for four specific themes – sustainable tourism, energy transition, climate change adaptation and ecological corridors – which show possible correspondences between the program priorities and potential project goals and activities of the trilateral partnership.
